Colin McLean has been an investor for over 30 years. He is a frequent conference speaker and contributor to financial publications, and is a regular guest on Bloomberg TV & Radio, CNBC, BBC TV and Radio.
Colin’s recent conference presentations and many articles have focused on new developments in behavioural finance, and the implications for management of investment teams, interpretation of information, and correcting biases in portfolio management. He has been instrumental in challenging traditional approaches by bringing behavioural finance experts to seminars and conferences, and has also applied this to the way in which SVM operates. He is featured in a chapter of Technical Analysis & Behavioural Finance in Fund Management published in 2009. His investment methods were also covered in Investing with the Grand Masters and Moneymakers.

Based in London, Nigel has responsibility for coordinating all administrative, operational and support activity for Janus Capital Group’s business in Europe and the Middle East. Specifically supporting the development and distribution of Janus Capital Group’s international funds and asset management services across the region. Nigel graduated in law from Edinburgh University in 1987. Thereafter he spent 5 years in private practice specialising in corporate transactions before moving to an in-house legal position with Franklin Templeton. He now has over seventeen years experience of advising on asset management matters, the last 10 years being with Janus Capital International Limited. Most recently, in 2010 he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer for Europe and the Middle East.
PHILIPPE GOUGENHEIM

Philippe Gougenheim, Managing Director, heads Unigestion’s Hedge Funds team. Philippe has more than 22 years experience in financial markets.
He started his career in 1988 at JP Morgan in a sales role for fixed income and foreign exchange products. He then moved to the interest rates derivatives team and was soon appointed as its manager.
From 1997 to 2005, he worked for Société Générale, where he last managed a proprietary trading team, after heading the team in charge of the market-making for interest rates and foreign exchange derivatives.
From 2005 to 2008, Philippe was a Managing Director at Millennium Partners, one of the oldest and largest hedge funds, where he headed a team of global macro and fixed income traders.
Prior to joining Unigestion in May 2010, Philippe was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Man Investments, where he also held the roles of Chairman of the Investment Committee and Head of Strategic Research and Management.
Philippe holds an MBA from the French leading business school, ESSEC.
RICK LACAILLE

Rick is Global Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of State Street Global Advisors and a member of the firm’s Executive Management Group. In his role as Chief Investment Officer Rick has responsibility for all investment management activity at SSgA, including research and trading. Prior to his current role, Rick was Head of Global Active Equities, and previously European CIO. Rick also serves on the European and International Executive Committees and the SSgA Investment Committee. Before joining SSgA in 2000, he held a wide variety of posts in quantitative fund management and research at Gartmore Investment Management, including periods as Head of Quantitative Research and Head of Structured Equities.
Rick has a BSc(Hons) in Operational Research from Lancaster University and MSc in Econometrics from London Guildhall University. He is Chairman of the Board of Inquire (UK) a non-profit body devoted to the research and promotion of quantitative techniques in investment management, a member of the FTSE Policy Committee and he sits on the Asset Management Committee of the Investment Management Association. He is a regular writer and broadcaster on investment issues and speaks frequently at industry conferences.

Peter Hughes (IRE) is the Group Managing Director and founder of Apex Fund Services Ltd.,Apex),a specialist Fund and Private Equity Administration Company founded in September, 2003. Apex specializes in the administration of alternative funds, fund of funds, private equity funds, traditional funds and investment holding companies. Since its establishment Apex has consistently been one of the top five fastest growing fund administrators globally.
In 1991 he received a BSc (hons)in Economics from Bristol University in England. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1994 and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England in Wales. Between August, 2000 and August, 2003 he was Chief Financial Officer of FMG Fund Managers Limited. During 1999 he was a financial analyst with Cazenove Fund Management in London and prior to this, a Group Manager with Hemisphere Management Limited in Bermuda.

Elizabeth joined Financial News in August 2008 as reporter on the asset management team. In July 2009, FN re-launched a section focusing on custody and fund administration, for which she became the main correspondent.
Elizabeth began her career in journalism at Global Pensions, part of Incisive Media. Before becoming a reporter, she had mainly worked in tourism in mainland Europe and Australia.

Jon is a Chartered Accountant, a CF and Fellow of the Institute for Turnaround Professionals and he previously worked with Citicorp Venture Capital in New York and London, Permira and Apax. He is a trustee of the UK Stem Cell Foundation and an active angel investor. He is non-executive Chairman of FinnCap, the stockbroker. He has recently been appointed a member of the Advisory Board for the £1.4bn UK Regional Growth Fund.
