David works within the Analytics team in London. He has particular responsibility for Enterprise Risk Management, including advice on regulatory issues (eg Solvency II), rating agency matters and broader financial and capital modeling. He is also heading the Financial Management Initiative for the Willis Research Network.
David is a firm believer in the practical rather than the theoretical. He therefore also maintains an active interest in the modeling support and broking of large reinsurance transactions. Specialisations include large national catastrophe schemes, including capital market involvement, cancellation programme (he worked on the world’s largest) and the modeling of trade credit and political risk (an intellectual and practical challenge).
David holds an honours degree in mathematics from the University of Bristol. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, a national property insurance prize-winner and Vice-President of the London Insurance Institute.

Chris Saunders is an expert in data governance and stewardship for IBM Global Business Services. He has been involved in financial services regulation since the 1980s, and worked in the insurance industry for 10 years before joining IBM in January 2011. Chris is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and a Member of the Operational Research Society, for whom he has written prize-winning research papers.

Sanjay looks after Logicaâs Risk and Regulation practice. He previously lead PwCâs Projects practice for the Insurance and Investment Management Industry. His team works with 5 out of the top 10 Insurers and has experience across 30 Insurers on Solvency II delivery. He regularly attends Roundtables with the FSA, European Parliament Advisors and industry leaders to debate and challenge the evolving Regulatory requirements. Sanjay also delivers market briefings to the Insurance market on Solvency II delivery.

Jean-Christophe Menioux is Chief Risk Officer for the AXA group, in charge of risk management for P&C and Life risks, financial and operational risks, and capital management as well. The Group Risk Management area has approximately 70 people centrally, covering a broad range of areas including asset liability management, the reserving process, application of the product approval process, risk monitoring, operational risk, economic capital and risk management systems.
Previously he was Director of Financing and group Treasurer. His responsibilities involved the centralized financing of the AXA group, including all types of Capital markets solutions such as securitizations, subordinated debt or rightsâ issues.
Prior to joining AXA in 2001, Jean-Christophe started his career in 1992 in HSBC France (former Credit Commercial de France) as head of trading on Interest rate derivatives and then as Chief Risk Officer for market risks.
Jean-Christophe holds a M.Sc. in Economics from Ecole Centrale Paris, and followed an Executive Development Program in INSEAD.
Jean-Christophe was also professor of International finance in La Sorbonne University.

Ms. Pamela Schuermans has joined CEIOPS on 1 January 2007, EIOPAâs predecessor till January 2011, where she has been working on Solvency II and International Relations. In EIOPA she is responsible for the coordination of the Solvency II project.
Before that she has worked as an insurance supervisor for the Belgian banking, finance and insurance supervisory authority. She is a lawyer (Namur, Leuven, Heidelberg) holding an MSc in Finance and Financial Law (London) and a university degree in actuarial sciences (Louvain-la-Neuve). She speaks Dutch, French, German and English.

Andrew Waters is a subject matter expert for insurance industry with experience in providing clients with intelligently designed risk and capital management software solutions. Andrew previously worked at Algorithmics as a member of the Customer Solutions and Design Group with a focus on Solvency II and prior to this was pension consulting at Mercer.

Bernt SagÄrd is Chief Risk Officer in Storebrand covering the life insurance operations of the Storebrand Group both in Norway and Sweden. He is also involved in the Solvency II project, especially the pillar 2 work and the ORSA process. Bernt SagÄrd has been with Storebrand for the last 21 years, most of the time within the Asset Management arm. His last position there was as Chief Investment Officer, Global Equities. He holds a MBA from Norges HandelshÞyskole in Bergen and is also a Norwegian Chartered Financial Analyst (AFA).

He has also held a variety of roles across the business, working closely with senior management on the Groupâs strategy and the development of the capabilities around Insurance Linked Securities.

Karel Van Hulle is a lawyer by training and is Head of Unit at the European Commission (Directorate-General âInternal Market and Servicesâ), which he joined in 1984 after having served 8 years with the Belgian Banking Commission.
He was subsequently Head of Unit for Accounting Standards, Head of Unit for Financial Reporting and Company Law and Head of Unit for Accounting and Auditing. In that capacity he was closely involved with harmonisation in the fields of accounting, auditing, and company law both at EU level and internationally and served as the Commission’s observer with the International Accounting Standards Committee. He was Secretary of the High Level Group of Experts on Company Law which prepared the Commissionâs 2003 Action Plan on Company Law.
Since November 2004, he is Head of the Insurance and Pensions Unit. In his present function, his main responsibility is the preparation of a new solvency regime for insurance and reinsurance companies (Solvency II).

Since March 2008, Gregor Pozniak is the Secretary General of AMICE, the Association of Mutual Insurers and Insurance Cooperatives in Europe (established in late 2007 from two predecessor organisations).
He joined AMICE from ICMA (the International Capital Market Association), based in London and Zurich, where he was Senior Advisor for Regulatory Policy with a focus on European regulatory developments in financial markets regulation. Before this assignment, he was the Deputy Secretary General of the Brussels-based Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE) for seven years (1998-2005).
He holds Mastersâ and Doctoral Degrees from Vienna University of Economic Sciences and has studied at London Business School and Georgetown University, Washington D.C.
