According to research undertaken for the upcoming Insurance Asset Management Summit regulation related to new areas of investment activity plus generating returns from innovative asset classes areas, are the two most important issues on the minds of senior insurance investment professionals.

Therefore, at this year’s event Lewis Webber, Head of Division for Insurance Data Analytics in the Insurance Directorate at the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), will be sharing his thoughts on, ‘The regulators viewpoint on the trend towards alternative and illiquid investing and capital treatment policies’.

Lewis is extremely well placed to deliver insights to this crucial topic, having been intimately involved in the creation of the PRA’s stance on how insurers can re-allocate to new and less liquid areas. Whilst with the PRA, Lewis has held the roles within the financial stability area of the Bank, focussing on risks associated with the non-bank financial sector and financial markets. Prior to that, he worked in monetary analysis.

Alongside Lewis Webber’s featured presentation, we’ll be holding a panel debate including the views of Guillermo Donaldini, Chief Investment Officer for Asia-Pacific, Europe and Japan at AIG. Guillermo’s experience across two decades at AIG, running investments in Colombia, Argentina, and the wider Latin American region, before moving to run overall investments at MetLife and then back to AIG in his current role, has provided him with a deep understanding of how to manage investments through volatile and unpredictable times. His insight to the debate ‘Exploring the approaches to building resilient, sustainable, and capital effective portfolios in unpredictable times’ will be an unrivalled opportunity to hear his views on the road ahead for the UK and Europe post break-even and which hurdles he sees on the horizon.

Look out for our upcoming interview with Guillermo, in advance of the event, in a future update.
